If you fly into Phoenix and plan on staying in the area, you're going to be among the fans making the longest trek each day to watch your Reds or Indians play. It's all relative though, unlike the Grapefruit League in Florida, you'll never have to travel hours between spring training facilities in Arizona. Roughly 26 miles from Sky Harbor Airport and depending on traffic, you're usually looking at about 30-45 minutes each way, but it's worth it. Built in 2009, the park is modern, clean, beautiful and among the most fan-friendly you'll find. And the grounds crew? Simply unbeatable ... if you're into that sort of thing ... which we are. Former Spring Training home of the Chicago Cubs, Hohokam Stadium was closed for renovations during the 2014 season as the Cubs packed up and headed down the street to their new facility in Mesa. Beginning 2015, and for 20 years after, the Oakland Athletics will once again become Hohokam residents.

    Hohokam Stadium_Seating Chart_2015

The stadium was originally built in 1997 and was occupied by the Cubs until 2013. However, an older Hohokam Park resided just east of the current location, where the A's first occupied it from 1977-1978. The Cubs took over during the 1979 season and played in Hohokam until moving to Cubs Park in 2014. Phoenix Municipal Stadium, where the A's have held Spring Training since 1984, will become the home park of the Arizona State Sun Devils.

In 2015, A's fans will enjoy additions and upgrades including a brand new high definition scoreboard display - the largest in the Cactus League, along with 7,500 new seats and grass berm seating areas for another 2,500 spectators. Fans can also load up on everything green and yellow in the new flagship team shop.

Approximately 12 miles from Sky Harbor Airport (15 minutes, without traffic), Hohokam Stadium has been a Cactus Leaguers favorite - a lot of which has had to do with the rowdy Cubs fans creating a fun, lively environment for catching a game. We're expecting nothing less from A's fans in 2015!

Think Baseball meets State Fair. The official Spring Training home of the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres, The Peoria Sports Complex opened in 1994 and seats 11,333 fans. It's one of the further commutes from Sky Harbor Airport (roughly 30 miles / 30 minutes, depending on traffic), but it's worth the trip. Compared to the other parks of the Cactus League, the facility itself does a nice job of feeling modern, clean and somewhat representative of a Major League park, while still maintaining the charm and modesty fans often crave when they head to the desert to soak up Spring baseball. And beginning 2015, fans get to enjoy the fruits of a $10 million renovation on the park, part of the $30 million in upgrades that were agreed to keep both the Mariners and Padres in Peoria for another 20 years.

The food at Peoria Sports Complex is incredible, year-after-year receiving the unanimous vote of the Cactus Leaguers for Best Ballpark Food of the Cactus League. Just outside the field resides a series of fair-food like food tents offering everything from gyros to funnel cakes to incredible hand-dipped corn dogs. And if you don't want to miss out on the game action while you head off for grub, a collection of gourmet food and drink tents reside along the outfield line. There's absolutely nothing wrong with hot dogs, peanuts and Cracker Jacks, but when attending Spring Training, your goal should be to pack in as many games as possible. Throwing a change-up to your stomach starts to become a necessity, and Peoria has that pitch in it's food arsenal.

The Peoria Sports Complex is an ideal environment to watch a game, but is also a "roamer's park". Arrive early and take a leisurely stroll around the exterior of the field, and if your arm's feeling strong, test your pitching speed and accuracy in the pitching trailer. At last check, three out of four pitches into the catcher's mitt will score you a jersey. We're still trying for it. Been to Peoria Sports Complex? Leave a review here!

Not the most state-of-the-art facility of the 11 that exist throughout the Cactus League, but the product on the field brings out some of the best fans in all of spring training, creating an atmosphere like no other. Constructed in 1992 and renovated in 2006, Scottsdale Stadium seats roughly 12,000 and usually sells out each game. We recommend forking over a few extra dollars and getting a seat in the Charro Lodge out over right field. If you can manage a ticket, it comes with all-you-can-eat food and beverages (the adult variety, included) and offers limited table and private lounge seating. And the best part? Funds raised through the sale of Charro Lodge passes and stadium advertising are donated back to the Scottsdale community. BONUS: On game days, the Giants grant free access to fans to arrive early in the day and watch the team practice - highly recommendedHave you attended a game at Scottsdale Stadium?
